What does IND stand for?

The United States Food and Drug Administration 's Investigational New Drug (IND) program is the means by which a pharmaceutical company obtains permission to start human clinical trials and to ship an experimental drug across state lines (usually to clinical investigators) before a marketing application for the drug has been approved.

What is the IND used for?

The IND is the means through which the sponsor technically obtains this exemption from the FDA. During a new drug's early preclinical development, the sponsor's primary goal is to determine if the product is reasonably safe for initial use in humans, and if the compound exhibits pharmacological activity that justifies commercial development.

What are the different types of services offered by IND?

IND needs a range of services, supplies and goods to serve our internal and external customers—ranging from architectural and engineering services for new construction and the renovation of existing facilities to tools and maintenance equipment, vehicles, furniture, cleaning supplies, food and beverage concessions, retail services and more.
